Psychotherapy & Counselling

Often people come to Psychotherapy or counselling when they’ve tried all other options of coping (such as speaking to family, friends, their GP etc), and feel stuck about what to do next.  Therapy is based on the idea that by sharing your thoughts, feelings and experiences with someone in a safe non-judgemental environment, you can begin to process them.  Processing your experiences means staying with them long enough to make sense of them which can then generate insight and sometimes new choices.  Often distress is caused in a relationship with someone else e.g. a parent, partner, friend, sibling etc and therefore working through your feelings in a therapeutic relationship can help to remedy this.  This is why it’s important that you choose a therapist who you feel is a good fit with your personality and way of working.

Benefits of therapy

By sharing your thoughts, feelings and or experiences with a therapist/counsellor you can choose to:

      • Express thoughts and feelings which have been suppressed or kept hidden.
      • Take a step back from your experiences and gain new insight.
      • Use the therapist / counsellor as a sounding board for ideas and benefit from their impartiality.
      • Spend time each week in a safe non-judgmental caring environment.
      • Be the centre of someone’s attention rather than always looking after others.
      • By experiencing the above conditions, you can create new choices in your life which can then bring about change.

Past clients have been amazed that this process can help bring about changes to themselves which they hadn’t thought possible. If you’re not sure whether therapy is right for you, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Self-referring adults

Elizabeth provides psychotherapy and counselling to individual adults aged 18+.  Unfortunately, there is no scope to work with couples or families.  A self-referring individual is someone who pays for the sessions themselves, and therefore the therapy arrangement is made directly with the client.  Payment for the sessions is made every week by debit or credit card either before or in each session.

Some workplaces offer to pay for counselling or psychotherapy for their employees, but the process is that the employee pays for the sessions themselves, and then claims the funds back from their employer.  Given that we have no contact with the employer, we still call this case a self-referral.

Availability & Fees

Elizabeth works with clients on an ‘open-ended’ basis as this allows clients to be able to work through issues for as long as they need to.  This means that at peak times of the year there is likely to be a waiting list. Generally, the more flexible you can be the quicker you are likely to be seen.

Sessions are held at the Reflect. Change. Be. practice in Market Harborough either online or face to face, Mondays to Thursdays. Friday is a non-clinical day and Karina is on hand to respond to telephone messages and answer any general enquiries that come through.

Fees are £70 for a 60-minute therapy session for self-funded referrals payable by debit/credit card only in the session itself or via an online invoice from our payment provider before the session.  Unfortunately, we don’t accept cash or cheques.

If you are referred through an Insurance Company, an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) or through your workplace the fee is paid to us directly by them. If you pay directly and then claim from an Insurance Company, this would be classed as a self-funded referral.

Sessions funded by Health Insurance

Reflect. Change. Be. has Associate or Affiliate status with a number of insurance companies (such as Bupa or WPA), or Employee Assistance Schemes (such as Lifeworks).  These companies provide their members or member organisations with access to a limited number of sessions of counselling usually ranging from 4-10 sessions. This is often referred to as “short-term” or “time-limited counselling.  The contract in this situation is between Reflect. Change. Be and the organisation, as well as with the client.  The referring organisation may dictate certain conditions such as the cancellation policy, the ability to apply for more counselling sessions, the need to write reports, and the frequency of counselling sessions.  Generally, clients referred by organisations don’t pay for these sessions themselves, unless their insurer has an excess to pay. Reflect. Change. Be. will invoice the organisation directly.
