Clinical Supervision

Elizabeth Clarke is a qualified Supervisor with a Diploma of Supervision achieved at the Sherwood Psychotherapy & Training Institute.  This training meets the high standards of the UK Council for Psychotherapy, and Elizabeth can be found listed as a supervisor on their directory.

Approach

Elizabeth’s core philosophical approach is person-centred & experiential, and her supervision training was relational/developmental.  Elizabeth has integrated these two humanistic approaches using person-centred philosophy as her framework and refers to herself as a relational supervisor.  “Relationship” is at the heart of her approach, and therefore she feels she would work most effectively with qualified psychotherapists or counsellors who practice in a humanistic/relational way, leveraging the therapeutic use of self.

It is recommended that trainees work with a supervisor from their core approach when starting client work as this supports the process of integrating theory with practice.  Therefore Elizabeth is well placed to work with new trainees from the tribes of the person-centred approaches.  Elizabeth can also work with more experienced trainees from other approaches who either need additional supervision to meet their clinical requirements and/or if they are looking to experience a relational form of supervision as part of their personal development.
